“Witherington Construction Company (WCC) has performed construction projects on the Springhill Medical Center campus for the past eight years. They have consistently performed in a professional and technically adept manner. This ability is evidenced by a very difficult Radiology & Emergency Department renovation and expansion that WCC performed in 2014 and 2015. The Medical Center’s requirement to serve the public during the renovation and expansion mandated that all imaging and emergency department services remain easily accessible and in full operation at all times.
Therefore, the project was performed in three distinct phases. WCC became a true partner to our campus during this time, providing us with accurate and reliable schedules and performing the work with no unplanned critical utility interruptions. In addition, WCC was very cognizant to our specific Infection Prevention and Construction Interim Life Safety requirements. The project required frequent planning meetings with administration and ownership. WCC was always fully prepared and knowledgeable, which assisted the campus greatly in our commitment to community service. WCC was (and remains) instrumental in shielding SMC from unnecessary change orders and/or additional unplanned costs. The ED project had a hard completion date of 12/31 in order to meet our bond criteria. The project required three separate and distinct ADPH inspections, all of which were successful thanks to WCC’s diligence, preparation and professionalism. The project was brought in at budget and on time, two factors that are rare these days. In addition to the ED/Radiology project, WCC has constructed many other very important projects for Springhill including Cardiac Rehabilitation, Women’s Diagnostic Center, Retail Pharmacy and Rehabilitation to name a few. WCC is currently constructing a new PET CT and CT suite in our Heart Center.
